Duct ectasia is a benign (non-cancerous) condition in which widening of the ducts in the breast occur. Many cases of duct ectasia are caused by the inflammation present in periductal mastitis.
Symptoms of duct ectasia may include:
• Lump that can be felt
• Discharge from the nipple
• Turning inward (i.e., retraction or inversion) of the nipple
