A pelvic examination is an examination of the reproductive organs (including the cervix, uterus, and ovaries) located in a woman's pelvis.
During a pelvic examination, a healthcare professional looks at the external reproductive organs in a woman's pelvis; palpates (feels) the cervix; and palpates the internal reproductive organs (including the uterus and ovaries) from the outside of the pelvis to determine whether there are any observable abnormalities. |
