Zofran

What is Zofran? How does it work?

Zofran (generic name, ondansetron) is an anti-emetic drug, a prescription medication used to prevent and treat certain kinds of nausea and vomiting that can occur with some types of chemotherapeutic drugs for various types of cancer and/or radiation therapy administered to certain parts of the body other than the breast.

Anti-emetics are in a class of drugs called serotonin receptor antagonists, which act on the parts of the brain that trigger nausea and vomiting.
