Can acupuncture help relieve any side effects from chemotherapy and other treatments of breast cancer?

Acupuncture has been shown to help minimize the following types of side effects arising from chemotherapy and other types of standard treatments of breast cancer:

• Nausea and vomiting associated with certain types of chemotherapy. After long study of acupuncture, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) concluded in 1997 that acupuncture treatment provides substantial relief from the nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy.

• Hot flashes associated with hormonal treatments of breast cancer
• Pain

Many insurance companies cover the costs of acupuncture treatments for chemotherapy patients.
