Hand and foot syndrome, which also is called palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia (abbreviated PPE), involves the following types of symptoms on the skin of the palms of hands and the soles of feet:[1]
• Peeling of skin
• Redness of skin
• Itching of skin
• Burning sensation of skin
PPE can occur as a side effect of certain types of chemotherapy.[1] If you experience PPE as a side effect of chemotherapy, consult your medical oncologist and oncology nurse for guidance on managing the side effect.
