In women who have undergone a partial or total mastectomy, reconstructive surgery of the breast (also called breast reconstruction) is plastic surgery performed to create a more natural-looking breast. Reconstructive surgery of the breast may be performed during or after a mastectomy operation.
Several methods, including tissue flap reconstruction, saline implants, and silicone implants, are available for reconstructive surgery of the breast. See our Q&A called Breast Reconstruction. |
