Salvage chemotherapy is the use of one or more chemotherapy drugs to treat a cancer patient in any of the following circumstances:
• Who needs to be shifted to different chemotherapy drugs due to side effects from previous second-line, third-line, or fourth-line chemotherapy
• Whose illness has not improved from previous second-line, third-line, or fourth-line use of other chemotherapy drugs
• Whose illness has recurred (i.e., re-occurred) despite previous second-line, third-line, or fourth-line use of other chemotherapy drugs
