Anti-angiogenic drugs are medications that block angiogenesis, the process by which new blood vessels are formed.
Some types of solid tumors cause the body to form new blood vessels to nourish the tumor. Use of anti-angiogenic drugs to slow or stop the formation of blood vessels to the tumor is an approach to "starve" the tumor. Treatment with anti-angiogenic drugs may result in decreased growth of certain types of tumors. |
