Breast Cancer More Common in Women Than in Men

Why is breast cancer not as common in men as it is in women?

Breast cancer is less common in men than in women for several reasons:

(a) Men have fewer breast cells than do women.

(b) A woman's breast cells are constantly exposed to fluctuations in hormones, including estrogen, which is known to increase risk.
