A radiograph is another term for an x-ray image, a diagnostic method that involves part of the body being exposed to a low level of external radiation produced by an instrument. Other parts of the body that are not to be exposed to the external radiation may be covered with a protective shield.
During an x-ray, the low level of radiation passes through the body and exposes a piece of light-sensitive film. When the exposed film is developed in a photography darkroom, the developed film (i.e., the radiograph) shows an image of the shape of the relevant parts of the body and the internal organs in those parts of the body.
