Infiltrating (also called invasive) lobular carcinoma (abbreviated ILC) originates in the milk-producing lobules of the breast. Compared with infiltrating or invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), ILC tends to be more difficult to detect with clinical breast examinations or mammograms. ILCs represents 10% to 15% of invasive breast cancers.
Often, ILC spreads to other parts of the body. Treatments for ILC are available.
