A nuclear medicine physician is a doctor who specializes in the use of liquid radioactive substances for:
• Imaging and diagnosis of disease
• Treatment of certain diseases
If imaging procedures involving the use of a small amount of liquid radioactive substances are needed during your diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, a nuclear medicine physician will be involved.
Nuclear medicine physicians are responsible for the following functions:
• Supervision of nuclear medicine procedures
